Be Inspired Fibres is a small bricks and mortar local yarn boutique based in the leafy residential area of Marchmont in Edinburgh, Scotland. The shop is situated on the southside of the Meadows and the University of Edinburgh's main campus in George Square. Click to open on googlemap
Marchmont has a multitude of specialist coffee shops and small independent boutiques, which are popular with local residents.
Be Inspired Fibres was opened in 2013, by Mei, who still manages both the retail and online shop on her own, the shop is a destination for yarn enthusiasts from around the world, originally filling a gap in the market for speciality natural fibre, luxury yarns and high quality accessories sourced locally and from abroad.
Since the pandemic, the shop's stock has evolved to accommodate a wider audience with more choice available for beginners and past knitters and crocheters returning to the craft, the owner has curated a wide range of high quality yarns sourced from the UK and abroad for various budgets and project needs.

Visting the shop
The shop's address is 30 Marchmont Road, Edinburgh, EH9 1HZ, and is on the southside of the Meadows. The shop is small and currently only 3 -4 people can be inside the shop due to space limitation and COVID restrictions.
There are steps to get into the shop. You may find it difficult to get a baby buggy into the shop, as space is also limited. I am happy to serve and bring things to the door.
Parking
There is on street pay and display parking, bear in mind that the streets around the shop are usually busy.
Buses
Number 24 bus stops outside the shop, but 51 and 5 buses also stop nearby.
COVID restrictions and protocol
Due to Covid restrictions, please wear a mask when you are planning to visit the shop, sanitise your hands and plan ahead to check that I have the brand in stock.
Due to space limitation currently, 3/4 people can browse in the shop, please be mindful that there maybe other customers who are waiting outside, try to limit your visit to 15mins. I am happy to put aside some yarn suggestions in advance of your visit to speed up your visit.

Online and virtual shopping
The online shop is constantly being updated with new products and clearance stock. However, not all the stock available in the shop is loaded online, but I am happy to send you suggestions via WhatsApp or email. Payments can be made via a payment link. The shop floor is packed, and not all the available stock is on display, the majority of the stock is in the storeroom. If you wish, please check that I have the quantities you need before your visit if you are coming to pick up.
